Housing

We have four different systems that house X. tropicalis: the tadpole room that houses our tadpoles, froglets, and juvenile frogs; the adult room that houses the majority of our colony; an XMOD system and a stand alone system. Both our tadpole and adult rooms have a large sump with biological media, a Reverse Osmosis (RO) system supplying water to the tanks, carbon filtration, a drum filter for mechanical filtration, UV lights, a heater, and monitoring and dosing systems for water quality. All of our systems are designed and receive yearly maintenance by IWAKI. The following protocols detail how our frog room staff maintain our systems on a regular basis.
